Services include a full-time fleet/lease department, 24-hour security, insured vehicle pick-up and delivery, on-site reconditioning facilities and a state-of-the-art body and paint shop. Personalized service is a tradition at D-A Auto Auction. In that sense, D-A typifies IAT’s customers. Many of our mid-sized clients prosper in the face of larger competitors because of their creativity, remarkable attention to detail, and efficient operating procedures.
Business Challenge:
- D-A is continuously looking for ways to provide customers with superior performance in turn providing superior customer service. Adopting and implementing new technology is crucial to any organization’s efforts to meet those objectives.
- D-A wanted to provide their customers with a system that would allow them to easily print bidder badges, gate passes, sold or bought reports, and a simple way to search the auction line up for particular vehicles based on make and model.
Solutions:
- With the initiative of a do-it-yourself solution, IAT and D-A both thought a touch screen application would accommodate both the challenge of using superior technology and creating an environment that would be both straightforward and simple to navigate through.
- IAT developed a windows form base .net application that securely retrieves information from D-A’s backend business database which resides on the IBM iSeries based on the customer and on the current auction line up.
- The application places information at the customer’s finger tips. The application first requires the customer to swipe their auction card. Using the data embedded on the card, the application retrieves the name and the dealership of the customer from the IBM iSeries. Then, the customer is presented with several buttons that will permit them to obtain information relevant to their dealership and to search the database for vehicles that are in the auction line up.
Customer Results:
- D-A has not only improved their image with the customers but they were also able to improve customer service by providing a convenient and effective system that places valuable information at people’s finger tips.
- The administrative overhead involved between the customers and the staff is reduced since customers just have to swipe their auction card and they are able to conduct their business easily and effortlessly.
